Waste & Recycling

UMW uses single-stream recycling, which means all accepted recyclables can be placed in the same recycling bin—no sorting required.

What Can I Recycle?

Accepted Items:

Before You Recycle

  • Empty all containers. For Pizza boxes, if the top is greasy, rip off the top and throw it away; recycle the bottom.
  • Rinse food and beverage containers thoroughly.

Do Not Recycle:

Food & Organic Waste

  • Food scraps
  • Coffee station waste
  • Bathroom waste
  • Wood, leaves, and yard debris

Electronics & Office Materials

  • Batteries
  • Cell phones
  • Computers and electronics
  • Printer and toner cartridges
  • Wire

Household Items

  • Plastic bags and plastic film
  • Light bulbs
  • Coat hangers
